Teaser Blog Hop 03/31

Okay, I promised you the cover for A Summer to Remember from my new series, Seasons of Love & Lust since I don't plan to do a cover reveal. Here it is!

What follows is a teaser from one of the many chapters I have written. It is almost a third of the way finished and with luck, I plan to release it before the end of April or the early part of May. Enjoy!

Excerpt

Paul’s crystal blue eyes stared into mine deeply and he shouldn’t have done that. My heart beat so fast, I could feel moisture gather in my most intimate areas and my sex was literally on fire. Everything about him turned me on but it wasn’t something I wanted because I was lonely. I wanted him and it didn’t seem right or fair that we both couldn’t have what we wanted.
However, I didn’t know if he really wanted me. Was he just saying this stuff to make me feel better and smooth over tensions? He’d been a family friend for as long as I could remember and maybe he just thought of me as a “little sister” he had to protect as much as Jude.
“Um, who ever said anything about marriage?” he inquired politely. “Ashley is a great woman but I don’t know if I am cut out to be the marrying type. I like my freedom way too much and although she is perfect, I don’t think she is for me.”
“Then why are you still with her?” I yelled back.
“Because you’re unavailable,” he responded. “I’m not talking about what Jude and I have discussed about you and how he doesn't want me being with you because I am like a brother to him. I mean, emotionally, you’re not ready to handle anything and if I knew what Kevin truly did to you, I would murder him myself. It’s been two years and you have been a completely different person. You sleep with men you don’t give a shit about and you act like love and life don't mean anything to you. Are you going to stand there and tell me this all goes back to what happened to you at Vassar?”
“It may not be pretty or politically correct but it’s the truth.” I took a step back from him and he naturally let go of my arm.
“Then open up to me and tell me what happened.”

To be continued...

I hope you enjoyed this week's tease because more is still to come. Until then, please visit all the other great women who participate in the Teaser blog each week. Don't forget to enter my contest which is now going on through the end of April since Atonement will be featured on Bookbub towards the end of next month. Happy Easter and have a wonderful Sunday!

A Different Blue & A Surprise!

Amy Harmon's new novel is out and the first thing I did this morning was download it. I am really looking forward to reading it so without further ado, here is some info you should know on A Different Blue.

Synopsis:

Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is.  She doesn't know her real name or when she was born.  Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old.  At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on in life, she is just a senior in high school.   With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard and overtly sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing.

This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody.  It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love.  But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are.  Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.

There is also a giveaway located here for some great swag!

Also to celebrate Easter weekend, Only Love will be 99 cents Friday, Saturday and $2.99 on Sunday so spread the word!

Find it here for that price!

Teaser Blog Hop 04/24

It's that time again! Yay! I'm super excited this week because I get to share a piece of my brand new novel I am working on! Yes, it is part of a series called Seasons of Love & Lust! Think Sex & the City meets Gossip Girl! Yes, it is New Adult Contemporary Romance but I like to think of it as four wonderful and courageous women who have had their share of hark knocks in life and love and have put their hearts out there again. The whole teaser of the series is what's the relationship about? Is it really love or just a case of hard core lust?

So, the first thing you should know is there are four women you will meet: Jerrica, Talia, Savannah and Autumn. The first novel, A Summer to Remember, is Jerrica's story and I am so excited to share her with you! No, you won't be seeing the cover (even though it is designed) because it is going to be kept a secret all the way up until I have a cover reveal. Without further ado, meet Jerrica Peterson from A Summer to Remember!

Excerpt

I sighed softly before I walked over to him, my mules clicking against the asphalt, and laid out on the lounger next to his.
Paul finally turned my way and smiled broadly. “Why, hello, there. I received a phone call from Jude this morning and he told me you were heading up here so I thought I would walk over and at least welcome you.”
He loved to flirt with me but we knew a relationship could never happen between us because Jude would kill me and then him. Hell, I couldn’t even take him on a test drive if I wanted to keep all my womanly parts. Jude drew the line at very little but Paul was one of the individuals who was firmly off limits to me.
“Hey, how are you?” I inquired feeling quite girly and insecure for the first time in forever.
I didn’t usually act like this and the way I behaved was not in the natural order of my life. Men bowed down to me and I treated them like a never-ending supply of Ken dolls. They bathed in the attention I gave them as well as my beauty, plied me with compliments and I had my fun and left them when I felt like it.
This was my life since Kevin had left me and it was only now I realized he had done me a favor. Without the complications of a relationship, I could have a lot of fun and not feel guilty afterwards.
I was a woman of the new generation who didn’t necessarily act like a man but definitely treated sex the way men did and it was completely liberating. Sex was a great past time and a fun activity but it didn’t necessarily lead to love and I wasn’t expecting it to either. I was twenty-four and my whole life was in front of me. I had plenty of time to settle down and find the right beau. Right at that very moment, all I was interested in was this Friday night coming up in less than a full day.
My best friends would be in Southampton with me and we would join the young and beautiful crowd on the beach and have fun, drink too much and have an absolutely wonderful time. This summer was all about spending time with Talia, Savannah and Autumn. Men were definitely an after thought and that is the way it was always going to be as far as I was concerned.

Enter "Spread the (Written) Word" Contest!

UPDATE:

The winners of this contest are:

1st Prize: Nicole E.
2nd Prize: Lauren W.
3rd Prize: Dayna J.

I will contact the winners today and expect to receive your gift certificates soon!

Spread the (Written) Word about The Atonement Series

The contest is simple. All you have to do is read a novel in The Atonement Series (either Atonement, Only Love or both). If you think it is a great series then by all means spread the word with your friends on Goodreads so they can add it to their TBR list and buy it.

Fans are the most important aspect a writer can have and word of mouth is a powerful instrument. That is why I encourage you not only to review (you can copy and paste the same review you leave at a retail site to Goodreads -- it does NOT have to be a different review). When you share a book you enjoy, you allow others to read it too and that is wonderful as well, especially for an emerging author like myself that so many people have never heard of.

Both e-books are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, AllRomance/Omnilit, Kobo and iTunes. This is supposed to be a FUN contest and because I want you to be enthusiastic and enjoy it, I have offered many ways for you to spread the written word. Thanks again and Good Luck everyone!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The contest starts on March 19th and ends on May 3rd. Winners will be announced on May 4th.

Teaser Hop & The Premiere of Only Love (The Atonement Series)

Now that Only Love has officially premiered on Amazon (at the discounted price of $2.99 today only)I am doing a very small teaser...the whole point is for you to get interested enough to buy  the book that is on sale at the two biggest retailers for me: Amazon & Barnes and Noble.

Excerpt

We walked out to my patio and I turned on the light so we could see one another. Both of us felt more comfortable leaning against the balcony, him with his Heineken and me with my wine glass of Pinot Grigio.
“Listen, I’m not here to try to talk you out of your relationship with Drake because it’s obvious to me and everyone else you’ve made up your mind.”
“Hold up. First of all, I am not in a relationship with Drake,” I replied defensively.
Colin touched my cheek softly before he snatched his right hand away as if I’d burned him. “He’s going to make his move soon enough and you’re more than receptive. I can see that. Although it hurts my heart very much and the thought of another man touching you and being with you makes my blood boil, I will put up with it because that is what friends do. I realize you no longer want to marry me but I have always cherished our friendship, Deirdre and yes, I do intend to stay here in La Jolla because it’s where you’re happy.”
“What about your business with Drew?” I inquired out loud. “I mean, if you dare tell me you are going back to bar jobs and being a barista with your Harvard degree then I will personally kill you myself.”
“I will still own the bar with Drew but he and Aubrey can handle it while I am away. Actually, I want to buy in on your coffee shop and co-own Ground Beans with you. We both know I am more knowledgeable about the coffee industry than you are so I would be more than happy to help,” he explained with a hint of snarkiness to his tone.
I laughed out loud. “I would love to act all tough shit and tell you to take your money and shove it but I do need all the help I can get with Ground Beans. I know you would be do a lot better job handling the employees than I do and you’re right, I miss our friendship too. More than you could ever know.”
He leaned against the railing and let the gentle breeze flow through his silky fair hair. “They say everything happens for a reason and I always thought those people were full of bullshit but…perhaps we needed that to happen and maybe you do deserve some time away from me. You may think I am being altruistic and a bit of a wimp but I have my ulterior motives. I am secretly hoping you and Drake crash and burn so I can be here to pick up the pieces.”
I smiled wryly. “Well, at least you’re honest.”
Colin leaned in toward me and if I didn’t have cramps from hell ravaging my body, I might have taken him up on the offer his body language was sending out to me loud and clear but at the last minute, I chickened out and backed away.
“This can’t happen. Not after I just got out of the hospital but to answer your question, yes, I am still very much attracted to you. I can’t promise you anything though because I’m not sure what I want and until I do, it isn’t fair to you or me.”

Check out the other hops which are going on today!

Cover Revamps & Other News!

I would like to reveal here first that I am slowly revamping  the covers for The Vamp Saga but before Queen of Immortals appears at the end of the month, they will all be changed. For the time being, I reveal the new covers for Immortal Lair and Mortal Death!

The covers have already been changed at all the e-retailers where the books are sold and should be in place before Friday (with Apple, I hope by sometime next week). There is also another cover to reveal because I can't have you looking for the wrong cover on Friday, March 15th.

Only Love, the second novel in The Atonement Series has experienced a cover remake. This one is much more tasteful and I prefer it to the cover beforehand with a stock photo that has been used more than I can remember.

I would like to thank my cover artist for doing such beautiful work so quickly but I prefer this cover to the old one. Also, my cover artist did the beautiful work on Mortal Death as well while another good friend did the work for Immortal Lair. They blend beautifully and are now fully representative of the kind of novels I want The Vamp Saga to be!

Okay, back to the final polishing of Only Love. And yes, I will get around to changing the cover for Only Love on Goodreads too. Thanks and have a great evening everyone. ;-)

Teaser Blog Hop 03/10/2013

Okay, here is another teaser for Only Love, the second novel in The Atonement Series, that premieres on Friday, March 15th on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Smashwords and All Romance. This is a taste of what Colin is going through as yes, he gets a say in the sequel and his point of view is interesting indeed. I hope you agree!

Be sure to add this novel to your Goodreads TBRs!

Excerpt

“Hey, can I bum a smoke?”
Colin handed the young woman a Camel Crush and she took it from him, her fingers brushed against his before she sat down across from him with an espresso shot. “Do you have a match?”
He handed her his Zippo lighter and she lit the cigarette with expertise before she handed it back to him. “It’s Cassie, right?”
She scratched her nose with a perfectly clean and manicured fingernail. “Short for Constanzia but Cassie is easier to pronounce and I would vomit if people called me Connie…it reminds me of the chick from The Godfather movies who always let her husband beat her like it was goin' out of style and she always had to call Sonny to save her dumb ass.”
Colin laughed out loud. “Are all of you okay with yet another person bossing you around? I realize this is sudden but Deirdre needed a partner and I stepped in. I hope I am not pissing anyone off.”
Cassie glared at him with cool brown eyes. “We don’t really notice as long as we get paid. The former owner had an issue with that and I think everyone is just happy to have owners who remember employees don’t work for free. It’s just a gig until I finish up at UC San Diego. Not that I have a clue what I am going to do with a freakin’ journalism major now that everything has gone to shit.”
“Well, when you first decided on what you were going to major in, what did you think would happen? There is a reason why so many people pick something generic like Business for instance. There is a lot you can do with the degree especially if you plan to get your MBA.”
“Rich people maybe because MBAs don’t exactly grow on trees you know and they are very expensive to pursue.” She slipped the cigarette between her lips and inhaled before she put the butt out in a plastic ashtray. “To be honest, I don’t know what happens after school for me but I guess I will just roll with it. Right now, this job is doing what it’s supposed to be and that keeps me occupied and my mind off the boys.”
Colin laughed out loud at that statement. “Yes, because men in college are so much more sophisticated than men in high school. I don’t know how young women do it but then again, it’s been a while since I went through the whole university thing and really, if I was smart, I certainly wouldn’t be flirting with you.”
Cassie pursed her lips before she looked into his eyes. “Why’s that? I’m legal and I know you are older…you’ve got to be late twenties or maybe even thirty…but I’m not jailbait. You sleeping with me isn’t going to get me or you in any kind of trouble.”

To be Continued...

Be sure to pick up a copy of Only Love if you want to find out whether these two get it on or not...from the preview, those who read Atonement can see everything isn't exactly swell in paradise. Ta da for now and enjoy your weekend!

Slight Delay with Only Love (The Atonement Series)

I admit, I have been a naughty girl. My month is hectic and unfortunately, I am between edits for two books that are due to premiere this month. The long awaited Queen of the Immortals, book three from The Vamp Saga and Only Love (The Atonement Series).

Between changing covers (yes, the whole Vamp Saga is getting a face lift), proofreading, and edits, both books are not ready but QOTI isn't due until  the end of the month. It is Only Love that is the pink elephant in the room.

Ladies and gents, this book will premiere (a hard premiere, as in it will be everywhere -- Amazon, Barnes & Noble, All Romance, Kobo and Smashwords...iTunes takes about a week) on Friday, March 15th. Yes, that is fourteen days later than I said it would premiere on Goodreads and for this I apologize.

Please bear with me but I would rather give you a decent product then rush it out and get complaints about it having a rushed plot, being novella length, et cetera.

Since my blog appears on Goodreads, I will update the info but until then, I wanted all of you to know I am so sorry and the book will appear this month. The paperback will be available before the end of the month. Thank YOU for putting up with me and I promise you a book worth waiting for. ;-)

P.S. Only Love (The Atonement Series) will have the cheap price of $2.99 for one whole week for the inconvenience and Atonement will be 99 cents (after that, it goes up to regular price). ;-)

Teaser Blog Hop 3/3 & a 99 cent DEAL!

This week, I am featuring Queen of The Immortals: Book III in The Vamp Saga! It is due to be released before the end of March and since I am revamping all the covers, I can't post a photo of it but here is the excerpt from the novel!

Excerpt

I had no illusions I was the perfect vampire Queen—I was probably one of the worst, bestowed my position not because of my beauty but merely because I was the first and therefore the most powerful. I would never say there was anyone else who would have made a better Queen than I as I knew of no woman but the point was, I felt like I was failing and it was not an emotion I was equipped to handle.
My mortal life had been no picnic and although many of my problems had been caused by me, I was often my own worst enemy by taking one mistake and making it that much worse. I wondered if this is what was going on when it came to my husband’s unexplained absence.
How long would people accept he was on a self-imposed sabbatical? When would the talk turn malicious and cruel; whisperings of me having him murdered or better yet, him tiring of me and he'd decided to leave me? It made no difference if he was gone one month or one hundred years, we were still married and therefore I could never promise myself to another.
It wasn’t the same kind of lose-lose situation humans found themselves in because I could sleep with as many men and women as I wanted to but I could never declare love for another and this was a definite problem, especially when I was in love with someone other than my husband.
Emmerik.
The torture it had been to see him gracing the halls of the château yet he was unavailable to me. I couldn’t dare sleep with him now that Mikkel was gone. It would seem like more of a betrayal than his loss already felt.
My father immediately sensed my anxiety as soon as he sat down next to me on the sofa in the Salon Bleu. The sitting room was aptly named because everything in the sitting room was various shades of blue. It matched my mood and had become one of my favorite rooms in the château because of the ambiance and the soothing feeling I received there. I also felt closest to Mikkel in this room once I found out it had been Adrienne’s favorite room as well.
He slipped an arm around my shoulders and held me close. “My love, what is the matter? You seem very out of sorts and you were distracted the whole meeting. A Queen never shows her minions how she is feeling, not even to us on the IVC. We aren’t your equals and therefore we should never be privy to your moods.”
I glared at him with fresh tears in my eyes and realized I should have never worn any shade in the white family today. “Papa, I’m so conflicted and I have been for the longest time now. I don’t understand and I feel so out of sorts. Who is my equal and with whom can I share my deepest darkest secrets?”
He passed me a black Hermès scarf and I wiped my eyes. “Unfortunately, the Queen has no equals and you aren’t any different. However, you can share your deepest fears with Emmerik—”
“Papa, no! I can’t…I can’t be around him; I can’t smile and pretend everything is okay between us when it is not. I love him…my God, I really do. I’m in love with him and for the first time, I can see that although I love Mikkel with all my heart, my feelings for Emmerik surpass the emotions I feel for my own husband.”
We stared at one another and his crystal blue eyes were so intense, I had to look away. “Why do you feel so guilty, my love? Emmerik is your life mate. You are supposed to be with him and Mikkel broke that bond. He is the one in the wrong, not you. I have never been very crazy about my brother but I hold a special detestation for him now and nothing is ever going to make that go away.
“He married you for one reason and that was to become a Day Walker. He cared nothing about your feelings and even less for what he did to Emmerik. Now he has left and you don’t know when he is coming back or where he is…tell me, how long do you plan to make yourself suffer for his absence? Do you truly believe he left because you slept with Emmerik? If you really do, you’re dead wrong. What you did with him had little -- if anything -- to do with why he’s gone and you must stop this. Grow a backbone for Christ’s sake and claim what is yours.”

To be continued...

Please feel free to stop by and check out the other awesome women participating this week!

Blurb

We have all the time in the world...until none exists at all...

Eighteen months have passed since Aurélie Segler-DeMarche and her sister, runway model Trésor DeMarche, have spoken to one another. A posh event held at Tavern on the Green changes everything for the hot and happening investigative journalist. Cable News World, Aurélie's own employer and network, reports the famous model has died under mysterious circumstances, locked in a cage in the dungeon of a penthouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Aurélie suspects foul play but when the police department is less forthcoming, she is forced to turn to the one person who might in fact have had something to do with her sister's death, Rory Krieger. Not only is the man sex on a stick but he is also a wealthy, elusive Dom in his early thirties who has kept Trésor as his submissive for the past two years.

As Aurélie digs deeper into the world of sadomasochism -- including the community, Club X-Tasy, and the eccentric members she meets -- she finds it harder to control the feelings she has for Rory. Though her first priority is to find out what truly happened to her sister, she loses herself in a world of secrecy, seduction and a path of dark desires she might not be able to resist.

Soon, she is wondering how deep is she willing to go to find out the truth and how easy will it be for a woman who prides self-control to give in to another's demands when it goes against the very grain of her personality? Some questions are best left unanswered but Aurélie soon learns the hard way she will have to lose herself to find herself...and the truth.

Fans of the 50 Shades Trilogy, The Crossfire Trilogy by Sylvia Day and If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones will be left breathless by The Ties That Bind Trilogy!

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: anal play/intercourse, strong BDSM theme and elements.
